Embrace the strong badass you are!
Power is defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as “the ability to act or produce an effect.”
Often, when we think of the word “power” we think of government officials and other authorities, however believe it or not we each have an incredible amount of power within ourselves.
Norman Vincent Peale said
“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” I’m definitely guilty of constantly and consistently doubting my abilities because I often just can’t imagine that I have a great amount of power inside of me.
This past week, one of my lovely Instagram followers/friends sent me the kindest message. She told me that my vulnerability and bravery inspired her to share her own story and become more open. She said she’s so grateful to have role models like me in her life!
Receiving this message made me feel so happy and fulfilled. She tagged me in the post she made, and I was so happy for her that she was able to share her true feelings with the world because I know how liberating it feels. The fact that I was able to inspire and change even one life has made me realize that I need to stop doubting myself because I have the power within me to make a huge difference in many people’s’ lives, especially if I choose to focus my energy into inspiring others instead of knocking myself down.
On the flip side of this, we have to be very careful with our internal power. Our words and actions have the ability to build people up, or destroy them and break them down. It’s important to be careful how we use our power and use it to make positive change in this world. So many people who are in power choose to use their position to intimidate and harm others, when instead they could choose to make the world a happier, more fair place.
All in all, we all need to recognize the amazing amount of power we all have within ourselves and harness it to help make a difference. We can do unimaginably awesome things if we just believe in and embrace ourselves.
