We’re already done with the first month of a new year and what an exalting year it is turning out to be so far! It seems that everyone is ushering in the new year with projects, plans, and good hard work. But with all the busy days, as fun as they may be, we can help but occur some stress.
Not to worry, there are plenty of ways to de-stress, anytime, anywhere! Here are a few tips and tricks to do just that.
Meditate for 10 minutes. If you can steal away 10 minutes from your busy schedule, head out to your car, lean the seat back, and meditate for a while. Listen to a CD or use your phone to access one of the many great meditation apps out there!
Nap for 15 minutes. Whether you’re at home or the office, you can usually spare 15 minutes for yourself. Dim the lights and set an alarm to wake you up, then lean back and sleep for 15 minutes. It’s amazing how refreshed you will feel afterward.
Laugh! Laughter is one of the best and most enjoyable natural de-stressors out there. Watch a funny video or have a fun chat with friends. However you get there, find a reason and a way to laugh throughout your day! Even just anticipating laughter can boost your endorphins!
Walk for 10 minutes. Not only is it a great way to start getting into shape, it’s a terrific way to de-stress. Just taking a quick 10-minute walk can change your whole day.
Breathe! Breathing exercises can help you relax like almost nothing else. Breathing exercises can help with anything from labor and delivery to alleviating anxiety issues, and is sure to help with a little de-stressing!
Put your phone away throughout the day to focus on more productive goals. Social media has made us cling to our phones, as there are now over 3 billion active monthly users on the popular platforms Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat combined. Whether it be a person you have a problem with or a political post, social media can get you worked up. You can eliminate a lot of your daily stress by cutting down the usage of these apps.
Eat a healthy snack. When you eat a healthy snack, you can alleviate stress that may be hunger-related. But don’t just go for junk food – to further boost your mood, eat something both healthy and delicious!
Get a plant to have either around your home or in your office – even hang one of those cute little air plants off of your rearview mirror. They aren’t just nifty for purifying air, they can help to call you down!
Kiss the ones you love. Kissing releases endorphins, which help to elevate your mood. This helps you de-stress, and it’s fun to do, too! If you’re having a stressful day and your spouse or significant other is around, give them a smooch and see if you don’t feel better.
Yoga isn’t just for stretches, there is also a ‘hand trick’ that can alleviate stress instantly. Simply apply pressure to the spot between your second and third knuckle joints on your middle and pointer fingers to give yourself an instant feeling of calm.
