Sandra Bullock is known for her girl next door roles. Whether it’s going from tom boy to princess in “Miss Congeniality”, being a straight up boss in “The Proposal”, or a strong mom role in “The Blind Side”, we love her. Sandra Bullock had played many roles and as taught things in her many roles, but then one thing I think we can all agree on is, she is a straight badass when it comes to how she portrays herself to the media. That is why a year ago she was named one of our top Wednesday Women Crush picks and more recently was named PEOPLE’s 2015 World’s Most Beautiful Woman.

In my eyes, Bullock isn’t just your typical ‘beautiful woman’ we see in typical movies or walking down the run away. She is a real woman working toward her dreams every day, goes through the same experience we all do, and she handles them in am empowering way. She has been through the fire by being publicly cheated on by ex-husband Jesse James, is a single mother raising her son (five year old son Louis) while having an active career, she holds multiple roles in top movies around the globe and does all this with dignity and class. She is living life on her own terms and has become a role model to women of all ages.

Furthering our love of good ol’ Sandy Bullock is that she does not take herself to seriously when it comes to her appearance. She takes the goofy roles, the dirty and less glamorous roles, and doesn’t care what shots the paparazzi get of her living her daily life. Bullock has shown that beauty is more than just looks, it is about defining who you are, who you want to be and being a role model to your kids and to those around you.

When Bullock heard she was awarded this honor she said ‘That’s ridiculous,’ and she told no one. In a interview with PEOPLE she shared that

“Real beauty is quiet. Especially in this town, it’s just so hard not to say, ‘Oh, I need to look like that,’ “she explains.”No, be a good person, be a good mom, do a good job with the lunch, let someone cut in front of you who looks like they’re in a bigger hurry. The people I find most beautiful are the ones who aren’t trying.”

In Hollywood especially it’s a truly beautiful woman (inside and out) who puts her son first and still has success in her career while maintaining a down to earth attitude.

The Oscar-winning star shares “As long as I’m healthy and strong and I don’t let this mind of mine run amok with insecurities about what I am not, I can look in the mirror and like who I see.”
