Being comfortable in your own skin can be extremely difficult.
With today’s use of social media, it’s hard to not feel pressured to follow trends and the stereotypical ideas of what it means to be beautiful—inside and out.
Being comfortable in your own skin is something I consider a work in progress. It takes time to truly appreciate all that you’ve gone through and endured. It’s hard to not to let the thoughts of self-doubt bring you down or discourage you. It’s important to remember you are only human, and you are worth more than you could ever imagine.
Confidence has to come from within and is extremely hard to manifest. However, once you have conquered that challenging concept and confidence exudes from you, you will shine brighter than you ever have before. Confidence often brings more positive and encouraging people into your life by attracting people that want to see you thrive.
It has taken me years to begin feeling comfortable in my own skin, to accept my faults and misfortunes. It has taken me some time to realize the worth I truly hold. More so, to be proud of the individual I have become. There is no one like me and there is no one like you. Once you can grasp the concept of how amazing your individuality is and how much you can bring to the table, it’s an eye-opening phenomenon.
Finding ways to become more confident can sometimes be tough. The first step is to face your fears and overcome self-doubt. Pushing boundaries and overcoming situations you feel limited by can be a game changer. For me, I often have to sit down and think about what is holding me back in certain situations that make me feel intimidated. I come up with 3-5 things that make me capable to overcome these circumstances and how minuscule those tasks actually are. Once I’ve conquered those tasks, I try to take a step back and realize it was silly of me to question myself and my power to push through my limits making myself feel more confident about what I can truly accomplish.
For the times I attempt something and fail at it at first, I try to appreciate the lesson I’ve learned. I also try to think about how these experiences have made me the person I am today. It helps give me confidence in knowing my strength and determination. Thinking positively can help slowly chip away at all the negativity you carry around with you every day. When you continuously think negatively about yourself, it grows the self-doubt and limits your chance for growth.
Confidence and being comfortable in your own skin doesn’t happen overnight. Rather, it’s something that takes time and dedication to master. Once you’ve got it under your belt, the only place you can go is up. Bettering yourself every step along the way is a beautiful thing and something I encourage everyone to strive for.
